'Tis the season. No, we don't mean holiday cheer, we mean the Political Season, a time of undecideds, debates, and campaign trails. Juxtapoz is in a similar mood, and we brought legendary fine artist and political satirist Ron English to our November 2012 issue to have him curate our special examination of Politics & Art in 2012. The Politics & Art Issue features a wide-variety of activists, fine artists, street artists, billboard liberators, performance artists, feminists, filmmakers and those who have changed the way art is made.
We feature exclusive interviews with Shepard Fairey, John Law, Molly Crabapple, Morgan Spurlock, Tom Forsythe, Susan Saladoff, Robbie Conal, TrustoCorp, Ernesto Yerena Montejano, and Dread Scott, along with statements from Sex Pistols artist Jamie Reid on Pussy Riot, Escif on Wikileaks, Os Gemeos' mural controversy in Boston, and Swoon speaks with one of her favorite non-profits, 596 acres. We also had Printed Matter of NYC curate our subversive artist book selections, a must for anyone who wants a little controversy with their art.
We cap off November with recaps of our project with the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, Outside Lands 2012, and an interview with Bonham's auction house curator, Gareth Williams.
