Juxtapoz is pleased to announce that Don Ed Hardy, the pioneering tattoo and fine artist, is both the newsstand and subscriber cover artist for our new June 2011 issue. We spoke with Hardy about his show at the Artists Gallery with SFMoMA on June 9, 2011, The Unruly Art of Don Ed Hardy.

In our conversation with the San Francisco-based artist, Hardy talks about his history as a tattoo artist, as an art school graduate with a vast knowledge of art history and tradition who bucked all trends by practicing tattoo art. After learning and studying ancient Japanese tattoo methods and styles, Hardy grew into the living legend and historian that he is today.

The feature and interview with Ed Hardy features his fine artwork, some of which will be on display at the SFMoMA. In June 2011, we also feature Morgan Spurlock speaking with the authors of The History of American Graffiti, a talk with collagist Marnie Weber, a look at Sage Vaughn's new work in London, Brian Adam Douglas (aka Elbow Toe) shows his newest body of work, and Caleb Neelon writes a history on Vermont performance troupe, Bread and Puppet.
